Notes:
Obviously, the audience recording from this show was one of the best audience recordings, basically, ever. The taper should be highly commended for his work on that night. There were several times that I considered scrapping this because I wasn't sure if I was actually improving the sound quality. I went ahead and continued with it if only so that I could have the opportunity to listen to one of the best shows of the Rising tour many, many, many times. As for whether it is an improvement may be up for the individual listener. The keyboards and percussion are a bit higher, as are the vocals in some places, and I hope I didn't lose any of the ambience from that special night in the process.

Notes:
Here it is, the much anticipated Halloween show from New York Irving Plaza 1997.The picture is exceptionally clean, and the audio is superb. The sound is much better than any of the silver boots of this show, direct off the soundboard. This was filmed for a TV news broadcast, and the guy filming it apparently got to hang around for a long time. Unfortunately, this is not quite the complete show and some songs, including Forever, are cut.

Tmpgenc simple color correction: Brightness setting 30, Contrast setting 110
Audio EQ'd and normalized using Cool Edit Pro 2

Other Notes by the taper:
This is my first attempt at a "remaster". I am not a miracle worker and the quality of the source tape prevents major improvements in the overall quality. udio has four major gaps of silence. These appear on every source I've seen from this show. Video is very dark. Most of set two is hard to see because of the issues in the original taping of the show. Use of Temporal Smoother removed most video niose but can have a blurring effect. This is the "lesser of two evils" in my opinion.

Notes from the taper:
I got this VHS from an ex collector who was getting rid of their old items from the early 90's, and I found this was better than any copy I had seen before. It's not pristine by any means, but for some reason this particular show has not surfaced in any kind of passable quality even though the other 2 known shows shot in this same format ("Phoenix 89" and "Largo 89") have. The audio on this one is really nice, and although I'm no longer actively collecting anymore I have to admit I'd love to see a better version of this come out one day (anyone out there?).

NOTES:
This isnt sourced from the 2CD "Thesaurus of Funkasaurus" bootleg.
Instead its a superior source. The sound on this transfer is much more lively and its also (more) complete compared to what can be found on boots (that i'm aware of, anyway) There's a little FM dropout in the right channel during the start of Stand, thats the only flaw I could find.

Notes by the taper:
JEMS is proud to be able to partner with and present some of the choice recordings in the D & D archives. Some of these recordings have been around for years but none of the master tapes or safety copies in some cases have ever been digitized until now. Dave and Donn taped many shows in and around the Seattle area in the 70's and also were contemporaries of some of the JEMS members. Volume 7 captures a radio broadcast they recorded of B.B. King. The recording is incomplete (it is also possible this was all that was broadcast) but what is captured is a real treat. B.B. King always put on a great show, the recording here is no different with inspired(as usual) guitar work.

Comments:
Three or four years ago, a phenomenal DVD set from "BruceDVDs" surfaced which featured a nice 2-camera mix and two separate audio tracks (one which contained a raw IEM feed, and another track that featured a nice IEM/Audience mix which is documented in this torrent. It was a huge set -- 13 GB, if I remember correctly, spread across four DVDs to accommodate the multiple audio tracks. This is a lossless rip of the IEM/Audience audio portion. From what I can tell on the attached SA/FA's, it appears to have been done correctly and should be clear to run on DIME. If this is not true, please let me know and I'll have the torrent pulled.

Here is an excerpt from the description of the DVD set that appears on BruceDVDs.net:
The Reunion Tour rolled into the Ft. Lauderdale area on 9 March 2000 for the first of two shows in the famed Spring Break destination. It also marked the third of a four show jaunt through the Sunshine State. The rarely heard "Don't Look Back" got things off to a spirited start, but the real surprise was the first performance of "Brilliant Disguise" since a European show almost a year earlier. Other highlights included the always-welcome "Backstreets".
....
The primary audio is an excellent IEM/AUD mix that has been created by Rockaway Rob especially for this set. It is clear and lively, with great atmosphere. As a bonus, the unmixed IEM source is available as an alternative stream. Both tracks are uncompressed. Together with the maximum bit rate used to encode the video, this causes the set extends across four discs.
....
Sound quality and performance are very enjoyable -- worth having for casual fans and completists alike. If there is interest, I can dig out the archived DVD files and post on DIME for those who can sustain the share-ratio hit ;-)

Notes by the taper:
Folks, it just does NOT get any better than this. Quite literally a perfect concert event; and I believe that this recording offers the very best that my old Sony Minidisc rig can provide. I dedicate this recording to Bob Dylan and his band - thank you for a magical evening that I will never forget.

After weeks of waiting patiently for the band/producer/venue to release some last-minute house tickets, my wait was rewarded just two days ago when out popped Sec 222 Row C (which was basically front row, center balcony behind the board). In addition, my aisle seat had an unobstructed view of the stage, as rows A and B stepped down to their seats. This allowed me to put my recording gear on the floor in front of me during the entire show - a huge bonus if you're a taper !

The two words I have chosen to describe this evening's performance are : mesmerizing and triumphant.

Mesmerizing in that from the first blast of LSPBH, the entire crowd - not just those around me - were stunned into a trance-like state, listening intently and soaking-up the majestic performance that was unfolding there before them. Having seen hundreds of concerts over the past 35 years, I can honestly report that I have NEVER seen a crowd so controlled by the music being created on stage. No one stood, not a single untoward whistle or shout during a single note played or syllable sung; then a passionate and resounding ovation erupted after each and every song. It was chilling - the connection from performers to listeners. Bravo Charlotte - what an amazing crowd !!

I'm convinced that this was simply the most taper-friendly crowd in the history of live music, and after listening to the show twice on the ride home, I can tell you that I will probably never make another recording anywhere near the overall quality of this capture. No samples needed on this one ... download with confidence, and please enjoy this masterpiece.

It is impossible to isolate the musically highlights from this evening - the entire performance played out like a grand, symphonic explosion of passion, fire, heartbreak, love, loss, and finally, heartfelt triumph. The outpouring of love for Bob and his magnificent band built throughout the performance; and at the final bow, you will hear an ovation spring forth from the exhausted, priviledged patrons who were fortunate enough to bear witness to the healing and restorative powers that only live music can create.

It is with great pride and much happiness that I present this performance to you all here on Dime. I hope that this recoring circles the globe many times and brings you just a taste of the JOY that we all felt last night... and I'm hoping to capture this lightning in a bottle again Saturday night in Winston-Salem.

It was the last of four sold out shows there on the 1982 tour and one of six shows in London that year (two at Wembley Arena followed). As usual: it's AC/DC at its best (Brian doing a great performance !) with an absolutely fantastic crowd !

Notes:
Did you ever wonder why there are so many nice "Pro" shot shows from the Palace in the early 90's? Luckily for all of us, the Palace had an in house feed that was accessible from the corporate suites, and at least on taper was brilliant enough to get gear in there and record tons of shows! Here is one of them. Nice PC authoring job, and it looks pretty low gen. Not sure why the file size is on the low end, I guess there might be some compression on this footage.
